Q. Can I order without a referral letter from my Doctor?
A.YES. This is a private GP service, so we provide one for you. As soon as you complete your order online our assistants will review your request and may contact you if we require further information including clinical reason for the request and any other information we deem relevant. You will then be sent an email containing a Pathology Passport ( our Doctor's referral letter) which you take with you to your appointment. The Pathology Passport™ constitutes a referral letter from us for blood tests on your behalf and also ensures that Spire Hospitals charge US and not YOU!
 
Q. Can I turn up to a Spire Hospital without ordering online?
A. No. You need to order online or over the phone. Once our clerical team has reviewed your request and has all the information required we will generate a pathology passport™.
 
Q. How long do the blood tests take to process?
A. Every blood test has a turnaround time, which is quoted in working days. This excludes weekends and bank holidays. See also our terms and conditions relating to this.
 
Q. Is there a £49.95 medical fee ?
A. No - we have withdrawn the medical fee - you only pay for the cost of the tests, with no compulsory consultation.
 
Q. How will I get my results?
A. Your results will be sent to the email address that you supply when placing your order. By placing an order you are giving your consent for us to send results by email. To opt out and receive results by post, use postal@bluehorizonmedicals.co.uk as your email address.
 
Q. Will you interpret my results?
A. One of our Private GP medical panel will provide comments free of charge if any results are out of parameters. If your results are within normal reference ranges we will just send the results straight through to you. Any comments are based upon blood tests alone in the absence of medical history or physical examination.
 
Q. Will you inform my GP?
A. We send your results to you alone and not to your GP. Although we may advise that you share these results with your GP you are under no obligation to do so. Please understand that the only circumstance in which your results would be shown to a third party would be if we were forced by a court order to reveal them.
 
Q. Is this service available for children?
A. This service is not always available for children and minors (those under 18). Please call or email us first to check availability of service.
Q: What is the difference between reported and unreported results?
A: Reported results will be sent to the GP for comment, this process can take up to two working days to complete in addition to the stated turnaround time for results. If you select unreported results, then you choose not to have the interpretation of our GP and they will be sent directly to you. This is advisable if you already have a specialist to share the results with or are able to interpret them yourself. In the event of any results being of a critical nature we will always be in contact to make you aware of this.
