Full blood count included in this private blood test

Red blood cells are the most abundant type of cell in the human body - by investigating the red blood cell parameters within your test results it is used as a starting point with investigations into anaemia and other disorders. Included are Red blood cell count, Haemoglobin, Haematocrit and red cell distribution width.

 White blood cells

White blood cell parameters that are included are a white blood cell count, as well as a  breakdown into Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Eosinophils and Basophils. Raised values may indicate viral or bacterial infection, inflammation, leukaemia, allergies or asthma or hypothyroidism, whilst decreased values may indicate sepsis, arthritis, or malignant diseases.

 Platelets in blood

Platelets are important as they are essential in the clotting process - they stop us from bleeding! A low platelet count is known as Thrombocytopenia and may be caused by a viral infection, alcohol excess, leukaemias or Aplastic anaemias but the full list is quite exhaustive. A high platelet count is known as thrombocythaemia and can indicate a platelet disorder which needs further investigation.

 Liver Function Test GGT

Liver function testing is recommended as part of any general blood test - abnormalities can indicate serious disease processes. Our doctor will look at all included parameters - Bilirubin, ALP, ALT, Gamma GT, Protein, Albumin and Globulin and pass comment regarding the weighting of all these factors and how the combined results should be viewed. AST is not an inclusion in this profile and largely unneccesary is the prescence of the other values, but can be requested as a free addon using coupon code offer

Private Kidney Testing in blood

The best available indicator of Kidney Function Testing is that of Creatinine. It is essentially a waste product of bodily processes and it is the kidneys that control its elimination from the blood. Raised levels will usually indicate that there is reduced kidney function although a slight increase is possible during mild dehydration. Low levels are of no concern.

Lipid Profile cholesterol testing

Cholesterol is one of the more commonly known blood tests. It is a form of fat essential to our bodies but too much of it has been linked to a higher risk of heart disease. We test for Total Cholesterol, but also Triglycerides, and the good and the bad forms (HDL and LDL). By looking at the figures together our Doctor can make a better asssessment of your cardiac health.

private thyroid blood tests

Each of our comprehensive blood tests includes a basic thyroid assessment consisting of TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) and FT4 ( Free thyroxine). Looking at levels of these two hormones will help our Doctor decide if further investigation into a possible hypothyroid or hyperthyroid status is indicated. If you are already a known thyroid patient, why not use our coupon code offer to add FT3 as well for no extra charge to check your dosage?

 Iron Status Panel

The Iron Status Panel within this profile consists of SIX iron parameters which will give our Doctors a good level of information regarding any iron storage disorders that you may have. Inclusions are Ferritin, Total Iron, Total Iron Binding Capacity, Transferrin Saturation, UIBC and Haemoglobin

bone profile blood test

Every comprehensive profile also includes a bone screen. By looking at calcium and corrected calcium levels in conjunction with protein, albumin and globulin, as well as Alkaline Phosphatase and Uric acid our Doctor will pass comment on any results that are out of range. Although calcium is essential for the maintenance of bone strength it also has other functions, especially in cardiac muscle.

uric acid gout testing private

Uric acid is a normal waste product of protein breakdown within our bodies - high levels are possible which can in turn lead to gout, an inflammatory condition that painfully affects joints, most commonly the big toes. Common causes of high uric acid can be the use of diuretics (water tablets), genetic reasons or diet.

Sodium Potassium urea and electrolytes

Within a general health screen, Sodium and Potassium should be normal - small changes can have big implications so it is important to keep an eye on these. Urea is a good market of acute kidney disease also - together, amongst others, they are known as Urea and Electrolytes and should be included as an essential part of any health screening blood test.

hba1c blood test

HbA1C is the inclusion within this PLUS V blood test that differentiates it from other PLUS V packages that include Glucose. It gives a good indication of your level of blood glucose over the preceeding two to three months and can therefore be more useful than a glucose reading. It can be used for screening for and diagnosing diabetes as well as being useful for monitoring known diabetics.

 crp blood investigation

C Reactive Protein (CRP) is a better non specific measure of general inflammation and infection than ESR. It is useful in assessments of arthritis and auto immune diseases, inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic inflammatory disease. Treatment effectiveness can be assessed by monitoring if the CRP level is rising or falling.

vitamin blood tests uk

Our PLUS V blood test profiles test for Vitamins D, B12, and B9 (Folate). There is over a 50% chance that you are Vitamin D deficient if you live in the UK, and Vitamin B12 and folate deficiency can cause a wide range of problems. Getting these tests individually can be costly, but as part of the PLUS V it is all included in the price.

Please Note we may not be able to test Vitamin D at all hospitals due to changed sample requirements. If this is the case we can offer Magnesium instead, or offer Vitamin D as a finger prick kit. We would recommend you check before ordering by calling 0800 0988 751 and we will be more than happy to help.
