Terms and Conditions
At Blue Horizon Medicals, we strive to deliver a top-class private pathology service for our valued customers. In order to facilitate this, we work very hard, with you and your results being our top priority. However, it is necessary to state our terms and conditions relating to the service that we provide to avoid any misunderstanding.
Informing us of your attendance
As per the confirmation email you will receive, after placing your order, it is VITAL you inform us of your date of attendance/drop off information, for results purposes – regardless of whether or not the hospital you are choosing to attend offer a walk in or appointments based service.
This can be done by simply completing the linked appointment request form within task 3 of your confirmation email. This enables us to check your samples are being processed correctly.
Failing to inform us of attendance date and time will mean that we are unaware your sample has entered the laboratory system. This may result in a delay in receiving your results, or it may require a reattendance if we have been unable to correct any processing errors on the day of your attendance.
100% Money Back Guarantee
We pledge that you are entitled to a 100% money back guarantee, if you change your mind about getting your laboratory tests before having your blood taken at one of the Spire locations, valid for 14 days after the purchase date. You have the option to receive a 100% coupon code to use on our website after the 14 day period or a credit note for the full amount to use against another test on one of our websites. Once you have had your sample taken you will no longer be entitled to a refund of charges unless your sample is lost, improperly stored or incorrectly taken by Spire pathology, resulting in a non or invalid result. In this event, you will have a choice of either a refund of the tests involved (a calculation if a profile was ordered based on the number of tests that cannot be performed and the total number of tests within the profile purchased), or a chance to attend again for another sample to be taken (at the same hospital as originally attended, if some tests within a profile cannot be performed, for whatever reason). As the pathology service itself is provided by Spire Pathology Services and not ourselves, you agree when you order a test not to hold us liable for any delays or other costs which are beyond our direct control. We do not like delays at all and always work our hardest to provide your results on time.
Turnaround Times (TATs)
The estimated turnaround times are stated clearly as estimated for each test and are to be used as a guide only. The results are only released once all tests become available per order/attendance. The estimated turnaround times refer to the number of working days (not including weekends and bank holidays) that it takes between your blood being received by the processing Laboratory and the results being received by ourselves.
Please understand that as these turnaround times are a guide only, results may well fall inside the times stated and often do. However, sometimes results will take longer than the stated times due to circumstances beyond our control such as mechanical breakdown of equipment, human error, reagents shortages or transportation issues affecting courier routes, as not all tests will be analysed by the location that you have your blood taken at.
If your results are overdue, we consult the Laboratory Reporting System four to five times a day to specifically look for your result, as well as discussing with laboratory managers to chase the results on your behalf. We understand that waiting for overdue results is frustrating, which is why we clearly state that the turnaround times are estimated only.
Results
Once your results have been completed by Spire Pathology Services, validated and received by ourselves, if they fall within normal laboratory reference ranges or you have opted for the unreported results service, they will be sent straight through to you via email. If you have opted for reported results and interpretation is needed, one of our medical panel will provide comment free of charge, which will take a further 2-3 working days to be processed and subsequently for you to receive the results.
Reported Results
Our panel of Doctors are all practicing GP’s and if any of your results are outside established parameters and you have opted for reported results, we provide a free of charge medical comment based upon your blood results alone.
Unreported/Express Results
Choosing unreported/express results means you will not receive doctors comments.
Unreported/Express Results duty of care
Both private and public Doctors are required by the General Medical Council to operate within the bounds of their knowledge for your safety - in the event that they believe your result/s require comment/instruction on what you are required to do next, regardless of your reporting request, our doctor may insist that a comment is provided.
Children and Minors
We are not able to provide our private pathology service for children/minors (under the age of 18) via our Spire Pathology Service. Please email us to check availability of the services we offer in your area, if you are unsure.
Special Handling Requirements
Some samples have special handling requirements such as freezing or centrifuging and not all Spire Hospital locations will have a Laboratory on site and therefore the correct facilities to take the blood and prepare it in the correct manner for a dry ice courier (frozen samples sometimes have to be stored at -30c). Where we are informed by Spire Pathology Services, that your chosen location is not suitable for some of these specialist tests we will endeavour to provide you with other options so that we can process your pathology request accordingly.
