Included in every single request for Thrombophilia screen are a Doctors Referral, all Phlebotomy fees (your blood taken at a Private Hospital), all laboratory fees and includes our GP comments.

Special Instructions: 4x Blue vacutainers need to be double spun, separated and frozen within two hours of being taken (see test repertoire for further assistance). If a delay is expected with transportation to the laboratory, samples must be transported frozen. If collecting using Butterfly system discard initial blue bottle. If possible it is preferable to collect blood WITHOUT using a tourniquet. Citrate (blue vacutainers) MUST always be taken before other coloured vacutainers and filled to the line. Lavender sample requires freezing as whole blood. Send to the laboratory immediately.
Attendance Restrictions: A morning Monday to Thursday appointment is required. Please DO NOT bleed patient outside of these time.
Laboratory Notes: Please be aware that Fibrinogen and Activated Protein C Resistance tests within this profile are not currently being performed due to laboratory refurbishment.

Fasting: If fasting is required, it will be explained on your Pathology Passport. 8 hours fasting is sufficient when it is required.
