Included in every request for Metadrenalines are a Doctors Referral, all Phlebotomy fees (your blood taken at a Private Hospital), all laboratory fees and includes our GP comments.
72 HOURS PRIOR TO COLLECTION the patient must avoid the following drugs: Alpha-Methydopa, MAO and COMT inhibitors and hypertension medication (at the discretion of the patients clinician) and nicotine. They must also avoid vigorous exercise. Please also follow a restricted diet for 24 hours prior to sample collection: Avoid bananas, Vitamin B, Coffee, Tea, Caffeinated drinks (Coca-Cola, hot chocolate, energy drinks etc), Curry leaves, Chili, Large doses of vitamin C, Cocoa-beans/Chocolate or any other Methylxanthine food. Before taking the sample the patient must rest/lay down for half an hour and the sample (A purple topped EDTA sample) must be IMMEDIATELY transported to the lab as it needs to be separated and frozen within 30 minutes of collection.
